Alright oppo I come to you for your 2 wheeled opinions. I have a little more than 3k to play with to find a new toy. So far I’ve been considering sv650/cb600f/and bandit 600. I think I’m looking for a bike in the naked/standard category preferably with a big dopey single headlight in the front. Anyone able to offer any opinions or suggestions? It seems like a bandit could be had with lower miles for the same price as an SV and although cb600s look pretty cool they don’t seem to come on the market in NJ much. Pic is an Embrear E190 lineage who had to file paperwork just to operate in Teterboro due to weight restrictions. If I don’t comment back right away it’s because i fell asleep. I’ve been up for 26 hours as of posting.

You have riding experiance right?

If not, id look under the 500 cc mark.

If yes, sv and bandit are the go tos. Cbs are a little harder to find and get parts for.

its crazy you can get this without a motor or something else with one for the same price.... it actually took me a few minutes to find one at $3k, the ones I started with were much much more than that.

yea i took the msf course last summer and actually ended up with a perfect score. rode a bunch through the summer and fall using my dads 06 heritage softail. much heavier bike than i would have liked but it only cost me however much gas i used so i really couldn't complain.

join us! The bikes you listed are good choices and you can find any manor of 80's UJM’s for pretty cheap too if you aren’t afraid of turning a wrench.

I had a hard time finding a naked SV650, there were plenty of the “s” models but the strippers were rare in my area.

You will probably find the SV a little closer to what you are used too. L Twin will have more torque lower down then the 4 banger will.

Suzuki GS500. If you aren’t afraid of fairings, get a later F model. You’ll enjoy it on freeways.

Gotta get my typical (stupid) Ducati Monster plug in here. You can find old 750's and 620's in that price range on occasion. If you are capable of doing your own wrenching, they are no more expensive than their japanese counterparts.

I think you’re on the right track with the Bandit. They’ve been around a long time. Reliability is pretty good and they’re well sorted out. Good luck!

I bought an SV-650S after my F4i got stolen because it was cheap. I really ended up hating it. People like the V-twins for low end torque, but mine was gutless at high RPMs. I recently purchased a FZ6 and I have to say, I like it a lot better than the SV650. It still doesn’t have the power of my F4i, but it goes well enough and can take a luggage rack a lot easier. So yeah, they weren’t as popular, but if you’re looking at SV650s, I’d recommend taking a look at the FZ6.

Damn that would be perfect. Out in no 3500 gets you a bike with 17-20k on it
